Entering Dance Comps like a pro!

Hey there fellow dance mums, are you ready to conquer the dance competition world with ease? Let's make it fun and easy with these tips for entering competitions!

Tip 1: Plan Like a Boss

Get your boss mode on and plan like a pro! First, go to www.dancemums.co.nz and list all the competitions you want to enter. Then, grab a giant A0 calendar from The Warehouse and block out the comps. It's like planning a party, but with more glitter and sass. Pro-tip: Don't forget to ask your dance teacher about upcoming routines, and make sure you enter those too!

Tip 2: Tech is Your Friend

Don't be afraid of the tech, it's your friend! Most of the comps use WE Developments for their pre-registration apps. Follow them on Facebook and fill out the registration app before the entries open. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083088383018

They have a great guide on how to complete the pre-registration before the comp opens. So make sure you check it out.

Also, make sure your internet connection can handle the upload. It's like playing a video game, but with more style and less frustration.

Tip 3: Quick Fingers and Alarms

Ready, set, go! Comps close out in seconds these days, so get your fingers warmed up and set alarms on your phone so you don't miss the entry opening time. I usually set an alarm an hour before opening and an alarm 4 mins prior to opening.  It's like a race to the finish line, but with more sparkle and less pressure.

Tip 4: Make it a Family Affair

Get the whole family involved and make it a team effort. Share your login and enlist some help if you're entering more than one child or genre. You wont be able to enter more than one child or different genres in some of the comps as they sell out within a min!  Consider this like a family project, but with more groove and laughter.

Tip 5: Set up a quiet space

Find a quiet spot to focus on the task at hand. Logon 3 mins prior to entry opening time and refresh the screen every minute (it might not help, but who knows!) and once the entries open, channel your inner athlete and focus like it's the Olympic finals.

Tip 6: Make sure you have funds in your card

Don't forget to check your wallet before entering the comps. You're looking at a minimum of $100 for four routines (check out our blog on fundraising ideas). It's like playing Monopoly, but with more glitter and less fake money.

Entering dance competitions can be a fun and enjoyable experience. With a little bit of planning, tech-savviness, family involvement, and quick fingers, you can conquer the online competition world with ease. So, dance mums, put on your sparkly dance shoes and get ready to show off your moves!
